Average house prices in the Dubai real estate market are likely to fall by another 10 per cent this year with no sign of improvement on the immediate horizon, according to the ratings agency Standard & Poor’s.

The agency, which rates bonds issued by three UAE developers – Emaar Properties, Damac Properties and Aldar Properties – said that the historically low price of oil and the strong dollar would continue to push property prices down in Dubai throughout the year, while prices in Abu Dhabi will start to follow suit.

Hotel to be located on lower floors of a new, 72-storey Downtown Dubai tower

Emaar is all set to open its first new Address hotel in six years at the end of 2016, a real boon to Dubai real estate in the Downtown area.

The hotel will be housed on the lower floors of a new, 72-storey Downtown Dubai tower linked to The Dubai Mall. New general manager Pascal Dupuis said it is expected to open this year.

“We’re aiming for the last quarter,” said Mr Dupuis, who has more than 25 years of experience in hospitality and who has worked in Dubai for two years, managing both The Address Montgomery and more recently The Address Dubai Mar­ina hotel for Emaar Properties.

AccorHotels agrees deal with Mawarid for 200-key property in Dubai close to Wafi

Extra amenities for Dubai apartment rentals in area

French hotel group Accor has reached an agreement with investment company Mawarid Finance to manage an ibis Styles hotel within its new headquarters in Dubai. The 200-key property will be located within the Al Jaddaf business district, close to the upcoming Cultural Village project and the Wafi Mall.

It will include an all-day dining restaurant and a lobby café, as well as meeting room, gymnasium and pool facilities. “We are delighted to embark upon the development of such a differentiated project and bring to life the ibis Styles Mawarid HQ,” said AccorHotels Middle East managing director and chief operating officer Olivier Granet.

Developers pushing ahead with high-profile launches

The Dubai Properties Group has announced an 8.2 million sq ft, Spanish-themed, development in Dubailand, which is to be developed across five phases – with the first to be ready in 2018.
